Workplace Health Checks

Workplace health checks engage workers to think about their health risks and take action. A health check up is a bit like a WOF but for the Body - helping spot issues before they become problems. A low cost service, it saves lives and provides a great benefit to employees and reduces sickness.

 Workplace Hearing Tests

Hearing tests are required by the Department of Labour for employees working in noise levels in excess of 85dBA over an eight hour period. (A rule of thumb for determining noise levels above 85dBA is if you have to shout to hold a conversation with someone who is about one metre away from you.)

Our hearing test can help you:
  • Comply with the Approved Code of Practice for the Management of Noise levels in the Workplace
  • Identify employees at risk from hazardous noise in the workplace
  • Take necessary action with regard to ear protection to avoid hearing problems
  • Comply with the law - Refer AS/NZS 1269.4:2014
 Hearing tests include:
  • Assessment of the employees past and present noise history (includes recreational)
  • A physical assessment of the ear to look for medical cause
  • Full audiometry testing over eight frequencies in both ears
  • Education on the wearing of the correct hearing protection
  • Education on responsibility to protect

Workplace Lung Function Tests

We provide lung function tests (spirometry test) for employees in Auckland who are exposed to contaminants in the air that could affect lung function. This includes people who either work with chemicals or who are exposed to other contaminants in the air such as dusts and fumes. Examples of harmful substances include; Isocyanates, dusts and asbestos.

Our lung function tests help you:
  • Comply with documents such as the 'Approved Code of Practice for the Safe Use of Isocyanates' and 'Workplace Exposure Standards'.
  • Identify employees at risk from hazardous air contaminants in the workplace.
  • Take action with regard to respiratory protection.
The test includes:
  • Assessment of the employees past and present air contaminant history (includes recreational)
  • Full diagnostic Spirometry (three separate blows into the lung function machine)
  • Explanation of the results to the employee
  • Education on the wearing of respiratory protection
  • Education on responsibility to protect

Workplace Vision Tests

 Workplace vision testing is available for employees that are exposed to visual hazards, including: hazardous substances, heavy VDU/Computer usage or where vehicle operation is prevalent.

Our Vision Testing can help you:

  • Improve staff productivity by reducing fatigue and headaches
  • Reducing injury potential to staff and property
  • Detect vision problems before they have significant health impacts
The test includes:
  • Visual acuity (staff's ability to see usually whilst wearing their prescription eyewear)
  • Ocular muscle function (how well the muscles of the eyes are functioning)
  • Ocular health (screening for any signs of eye disease)
  • Colour vision
