Staff training at your place (or remotely) this lunch time!

Convenient, effective wellness & health and safety on-site (or remote) training. Wanting to encourage staff in healthy, safe life-style and good work practices including good mental health, time-management & OOS / RSI prevention?
Short Lunch-time Seminars
Try our short, 50-60 minutes effective on-site (or remote) training in a fun, friendly atmosphere. In our experience, it s often difficult for companies to take staff off the job for a whole days training. The loss of a working day can be expensive and can also place staff under additional pressure. We have found that companies (including those offering wellness corporate solutions) appreciate our flexibility in being able to provide short, but effective, training sessions.
The following seminars / webinars are presently being offered:
1. Managing Time, Managing Results
Managing time, helps you get the results you want in work and life. It involves prioritising what is most important to you and focusing your energies on achieving desired outcomes. This seminar teaches 3 effective prioritising principles to help you gain clarity and focus, as well as reduce unnecessary stress – (1) setting big picture outcomes (yearly), (2) agile planning (on a weekly and daily basis) and (3) putting in place tips and techniques to stay focused and on track.
2. Beat Stress and Boost Positive Mental Health
Today’s work environment can be challenging. We often feel like we are ‘always on’, due to a range of technologies & other demands, which can impact our mental & emotional health. However, the good news is that we can take back control, and make great choices, for the good of our work and our health. This enjoyable seminar explores some timely strategies to beat modern stresses and positively boost our mental health!
3. Navigating Change
It is often said that there is nothing permanent, except change. Why then, is it often hard to navigate change? This seminar provides a way of understanding and navigating change, identifying key steps in the change process and positive actions we can take at each step. In this way, we can take ownership in the change process, steering our way to a bright future!
4. Positive Communication Seminar
Good communication is crucial to everything we do! But, it is not always easy. This seminar provides participants with some great tips and tools to connect well with others. Learn to communicate successfully – and be influential – both at work & home!
5. Be a Happy Computer User: Staff Ergonomic Awareness Seminar
Is your work predominantly office-based? If so, you probably spend a good deal of time stationary at your computer. This is a challenge for a body which is designed to move! However, computer use doesn’t have to lead to pain and discomfort. This seminar provides information about the causes of computer related pain. It then outlines the steps required to help you set up your Workstation successfully – with optimal ergonomic settings. Finally, it discusses the need for regular movement and helpful stretching during the day.
6. Work Ergonomics & Manual Handling Awareness Seminar
Does your workplace have staff that carry out computer activities alongside manual handling duties? If so, you will be aware that both activities can result in varying degrees of discomfort and/or injury. This seminar provides information about the causes of both computer and manual handling related pain. It then outlines the steps required to:
1. Help you set up your Workstation successfully (with optimal ergonomic settings).
2. Help prepare, both body and mind, for manual handling (light) duties.

9 Ways to encourage staff attendance at health seminars

Companies concerned to promote good staff wellbeing, will often provide health seminars for their staff. Even though the sessions are generally free and short, it is sometimes difficult to encourage busy staff to take the time out to attend. Here are some great strategies to encourage attendance:
1. Walk Your Talk: Research has shown that the most effective work wellness programmes are those endorsed by Senior Management. So, aim to:
- gain leadership support for your event
- let it be known that Senior Management will attend
- have a leader open the session
- ask Senior Management to send the communication
- attend yourself as the organiser – whether you are the office manager or CEO – this will send a message to participants that you care about them and the event
2. Catering: Supply a healthy lunch or morning tea to entice people to attend e.g., a ‘Lunch and Learn’ seminar
3. Free-bees: Supply free-bees like water bottles (bearing in mind environmental considerations)
3. Door Prize: Provide a lucky-door prize or a prize for the team with the most attendees
4. Work Time: Gain management support for all or a portion of the session to be in work time
5. Carve Out Meeting Time: Integrate sessions into an event that is already happening e.g., a regular team meeting
7. Professional Development: Arrange for training to fulfil professional staff learning and development requirements e.g., personal development component for law, accounting, and health professions
8. National Campaigns: Link the seminar to a national health campaign (e.g., Heart Week, Mental Health Awareness Week).
9. Tug on the Heart Strings: Advertise the event as a fund-raiser, asking for a voluntary (or otherwise) Gold Coin donation for a charity of choice. Staff are often more willing to sacrifice their work time, to support others in need.
Give them a try!
We’ve collated these strategies through reading research, observing companies we’ve presented for and talking to other experienced workplace wellness practitioners. That said, it can also be a matter of trial and error to see what works in your workplace. Feel free to let us know your successful strategies. We’ll add them to the list!
